I'm not 100% sure this is true, but it seems as if it is, according to the FTC. If anyone knows for sure, please share.

STARTING JAN. 1, 2005, ALL CELL PHONE NUMBERS WILL BE MADE PUBLIC TO TELEMARKETING FIRMS

According to the National Do Not Call List, you have until Dec. 15th THIS WEDNESDAY 2004 to get on the national "Do not call list" for cell phones. They said that you need to call 1-888-382-1222 from the cell phone that you wish to have put on the "do not call list" to be put on the list. They also said you can do it online at
www.donotcall.gov http://www.donotcall.gov> .

Registering only takes a minute, is in effect for 5 years and will possibly save you money (definitely frustration)! Make sure you register now!

Why do we play with fire? Why do we run our fingers through the flame? Why do we leave our hands on the stove, although we know we're in for some pain? -tick...tick...BOOM!

Well, this is rather old, but doesn't snopes say that it's not true you have (had) to register by the 15th, but that you can register your cell phone? We cleared this up on another thread at some point.

snopes says that your cell phone number was never going to be released to telemarketers per the change this email refers to. the registry they were going to create by that date was for 911 / emergency purposes. either way the cell phone companies were against it.
