Ok I gotta chime in on this one. To even bring Mein Kampf up in this discussion from either the original essay writer or in any posts following is asinine, as is the book of mormon argument.
First off, Mein Kampf is a work of literature and not religious scripture. An elected neo-nazi would take the oath on a bible because most Nazi's are Christians. So that argument holds no validity at all!
Second, Mormons believe in the new and old testament as well so there is no reason that they would turn their nose up at the bible. The book of mormon is just an additional book to the new testament that they choose to follow. However if they wanted to use a mormon ammended bible, they should be allowed.
The whole argument is retarded. Like any congressman or president takes that oath seriously. They might as well be swearing in on a copy of Garfield and a Case of the Mondays.
ps: I'm not a neo-nazi or mormon.

Just to add my two cents.
I really agree with the idea of using a copy of the Constitution. That makes much more sense. As a congressperson, there are two things you need to serve, your contituents and the Constitution. Religion shouldn't even be a factor.

Cripes, people. No one swears on any book when they take an oath of office. He's just going to hold up the Qur'an in his photo op, because that's his holy book. Good for him.
The Bible does not "trump" the Constitution because they're two different things. We don't worship by the Constitution or set legal precedent according to the New Testament. So all you fundie Christian bigots can kiss my secular Jewish ass.

Who cares about this Qur'an business? I'm more worried about the fact that he's had his license suspended twice for dozens of unpaid parking/traffic tickets, supported Kathleen Soliah among other gang members (Sharif Willis), and had a liens put on his home for failing to pay taxes.
The fact that his campaign was largely funded by an Islamic group which hopes to convert the U.S. to a Muslim nation and replace the Constitution with the Qur'an is just fuel for the fire =)
