Hey! I am working on a great project called A Celebration of Women,
for which we are presenting a new musical called Love According to
Luc, and we are currently in search of a MUSICAL DIRECTOR and a
LIGHTING DESIGNER.

Love According to Luc is a new musical with book, music and lyrics by
Alicia Mathewson. Love According to Luc tells the story of Lucretia
Crowell, a lesbian seminarian struggling to find her voice in a
Christian church that won't ordain her. The story begins as she is
leaving her home church in California, departing for Harvard Divinity
School. At Harvard, Luc meets Jane, a PhD student and falls in love.
When she is honest with Rev. Mary, her aunt and home pastor, she
learns that her loving and supportive church will not ordain her if
she is out. Mary advises her to stay closeted in order to be
ordained, while Jane, her new lover, challenges her to speak her
truth. For the first time, Luc is faced with defining her own voice
and relationship with God, risking the loss of her love or her
life-long dream to be a minister.

This project has been created to celebrate women, and our goal is to
donate a percentage of the proceeds to The Coalition for the Homeless,
which has a shelter for battered women and children.

We are looking for a MUSICAL DIRECTOR who plays piano and preferably
can sight read. We will need you to be available to work with the
playwright, as well as with the cast during rehearsals. You will also
need to be available to play the piano during the show. It would be
great if you were available to provide accompaniment during audition,
as well.

We are looking for a committed LIGHTING DESIGNER. Lighting is a huge
part of this production and is vital to telling the story. Someone who
has some previous experience in lighting design is preferable. It
would be great if you were available to run the light board during the
show.

Auditions are being held the week of January 14 (Mon., Tues., Thur.,
Fri.) from 7-10pm

Rehearsals begin February 11 and will be held Monday - Friday from
7-10 pm for three weeks.

The show will run from March 5-9 with shows at 8pm and matinees on
Saturday and Sunday.

Students are encouraged to apply, as most of us working on this
project are students. This is as much a production as it is a learning
experience for all of us. We will try to work around your schedule as
much as possible, but please make sure you have a sufficient amount of
time this winter/spring to be able to commit to the project. A modest
stipend may also be available.

If you are interested, please contact our producer, Rene Bionat at
lostboy1973@gmail.com. We'd love for you to join the team ASAP!
