Rent, Lent, or Vent!

This thread is for anyone who has anything to say about RENT (show or movie), Lent, or anything in general they just want to Vent.
Personally, I'm giving up RENT threads for Lent because I think they're mostly insipid and redundant, and the people who start them are annoying as hell! And just for the record, I think Chris Columbus is a gigantic a$$h*le for cutting "Good-bye Love" from the movie. They need to come out with a "Rent Head" version of the movie on DVD with all of the deleted scenes and songs edited back in.

Yeah I was pissed too.
Yeah I serisously could care less about Lent. In elementary school I gave up icecream--the following week we have an icecream social. The next year I gave up cookies--I was a girl scout and had to sell cookies and I ate tons.
I give up. Have fun y'all.

I'm venting over the fact that I am giving up chocolate.
I love Chris Columbus, mainly because I'm a Potterhead.

Since it's ok for to me vent in here, I will. It's Rent related but not anything about the movie, persay...
Ok, I was talking with a friend of mine today, she was telling me she didn't really like the movie, Rent. I totally respect that because it's not everyone's thing and people have their own opinions. BUT then she tells me her reason being is that she found it offensive that Angel and Collins kiss. This is coming from the girl who saw Brokeback Mountain not once, but TWICE!! And she didn't find that offensive?
*Shakes head* There are just some things about people I will never understand....

That's strange.
I thought that the kiss between Angel and Collins was the one with the most chemistry (prolly because they were the only original couple).

I just went to subway and asked for a sandwhich with spicy mustard and they put on yellow mustard and mayo. I hate mayo.
And I wont be giving anything up tomorow.

I thought their kiss was really sweet and touching. I like that scene.

Here's my vent for you:
Letter to my downstairs neighbors:
Hello there.
Contrary to your belief, I am not interested in having a lovely "bass backbeat" constantly going on in the background of my life. I have my own musical tastes and would appreciate hearing them in my own apartment instead of "boom...boom boom...BOOM..." all day and night. By the way...they are called HOME theater systems, not Apartment theater systems. When you have a home, which I doubt you ever will as you obviously already spent your savings on that tricked out home theater system already...THEN you can buy it.
When I watch my television, I have this odd need to hear only my television. I don't appreciate watching "Match Game PM" or "Will and Grace" and having a lovely "bass backbeat" accompanying it. Or whatever frickin movie you are playing that has explosions every 10 seconds.
When I come home from work, I have this odd need for peace and quiet. Now, I know this is a strange term to you. You who cannot enter or exit the house without yelling at your mate the entire time. You who cannot watch television at a level that doesn't cause hearing damage. you who can't talk on the phone below a loud roar. You who cannot "talk" to anyone. You, who must call your mate a no good, unemployed, trifling useless man every time you see him. Over and over again. At increasing volume levels. YES...we all know he's no good, can you please move on now??? But I digress...some people actually like to eat dinner without listening to violent arguments set against a...lovely "bass backbeat".
Here's another thing. When you fight with your mate at 3am in the parking lot....I can hear you. I know you can't pay the phone bill. I know your cousin is in trouble with his PO officer. I know that you hate when your friends leave drugs in your car. I know way too much about you. Oh, I also know you can't function in life with a lovely..."bass backbeat" going on.
Now, I am a patient person, but really...is it too much to ask you to at least stop arguing and turn off the bass music by...say...2pm? On a Tuesday? Do you work? If not, get a damn job and then maybe you'll understand why the rest of the complex "gets all dark and quiet like" at night.
Sincerely,
Your neighbor upstairs.

justme, I feel like I could have written that post.
I have the EXACT same problem. It's to the point where I'm getting techno nightmares.
Maybe I'll give up my fear of confrontation for Lent and tell the ****er off.

Posted: 3/1/06 at 1:03amLol. That's a great post. I think all of us at one point in our lives can totally relate to that. For a long time, my neighbors kept playing that "Numa Numa" song over and over again, into the wee hours of the morning. *Shudders* Wanted to shoot myself.

My neighbor plays "Sandstorm" and "Twilight Zone" 24/7.
I really feel like I'm living in a DDR game.

It's on right now!! Last night, we had no electricity due to the storm passing through here, and it was heavenly quiet...until they realiezed they could and did turn on their cell phones and then I got to here them yelling into their phones until the batteries died. They can't even be quiet then....my god!!!
HOME theater means HOME theater people!! You don't have a damn house!!! I swear, I'm gonna blast "Shi poopi" from the Music Man right through the floor one day.
I call it the "oblivious to others" disorder.

I still need something to give up. Suggestions? I gave up meat last year and almost went on a murderous rampage b/c I craved it so much.
And now for the rant: My heat isn't coming on. It's cooold. =( I hate my building.

HA....I was thinking just regular type, but I'll settle for what I can get.
I'm reminded of the episode of The Voyage Of The Mimi where they dealt with hypothermia, and how if you have it you're supposed to strip naked and cuddle up with another naked person for the body heat. I always thought that was way pornographic for an educational miniseries.

Posted: 3/1/06 at 6:33amYesterday, I made a long overdue appointment for tomorrow afternoon at 4pm. I even told my boss I'd be leaving work early to make the appointment. Now I hear on the morning news that it's going to snow again in NYC, and they're expecting 4-6 inches. Why does the weather always seem to conspire against me? I HATE F*@#ING SNOW!!!!! I'm sick of winter!!! After a relatively mild January, why does winter have to arrive NOW?!?! I was going to start a diet today for Lent, but now... F*@K IT!!!

I'm cracking up. Hilarious.
I'm not Catholic, so I never had to mess with Lent. If I had to give up something, it would probably be dr. pepper.
And I don't have anything to vent about.
