GOP voters must sign loyalty oath

Voters who participate in February's Republican presidential primary should be prepared to sign an oath swearing their loyalty to the Republican Party.

The State Board of Elections yesterday approved a state Republican Party request to require all who apply for a Republican primary ballot first vow in writing that they will vote for the party's presidential nominee next fall.

There is no practical way to enforce the oath.

Virginia does not require voters to register by party, and for years the state's Republicans have fretted that Democrats might meddle in their open primaries.

Virginia Democrats aren't seeking such an oath for their presidential primary, which also is scheduled for Feb. 12.

It makes this Virginia Democrat want to go now and take their stupid oath and vote for Adolph Eichmann or Ernest or whoever.

But God forbid these Dixie-Reps change the stupid law and have a closed primary.

I'm a VA democrat. I like Mamie's idea.

Seriously, I wouldn't sign a loyalty oath for anyone for anything.
Period.

"There is no practical way to enforce".

More creepy wankery from the GOP.

It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali
