Today marks the 26th anniversary of the loss of a musical legend. RIP John Lennon.

A lot of people found out from Howard Cosell watching Monday night football. A terrible day.

I visited the memorial in Central Park last May and was very taken with the group of people gathered there. It was a drizzly day, and there were a large group of people seated at the one end of the area exchanging the most wonderful stories of Lennon - either how they actually knew him, or how he had impacted their lives. It was truly one of the most healing things I have ever witnessed. You are missed John, more than we know.
Today is also my brother's 26th birthday. My mother was crying in the recovery room. She said it was the strangest experience of her life.
Norn, you are so talented. I love your work. You were REALLY kind to Yoko in that pic.
I heard it on the news just as I was getting ready to go to bed. Sat up all night keeping vigil, and then had to be at work by 7 am.
I can still remember how deeply his death affected so many people, even people I didn't expect to care.
John was "my Beatle" from the second I first saw him on Ed Sullivan. I wasn't even quite in my teens yet, so I figured it didn't really matter if he was married because realistically, I had no chance anyway. It was okay to love him from afar
Over the years it became more and more gratifying to realize that there was real substance to the man.
I still miss having him in the world.

iflit - I thought of you as I sat there that day - honestly. You have the same soul I believe.
Not even realing the date, I just put on the Beatles "One". RIP John.
John is my favorite of the Beatles. His music and words were so powerful (which still ring true today). I will play my John Lennon/Beatles today in memory. RIP man.

Uh...hasn't he been doing just that for 26 years?
John is and will always be my favorite Beatle.
This picture was taken some time ago, but I think it shows my love for John quite nicely:

We visited the John Lennon Peace Wall in Prague last summer.
He meant a lot to the Czech people.

I heard about it listening to Scott Muni on the old WNEW-FM.
One of the saddest days of my life, and it happened just when John seemed to be having the happiest time of his life.
Rest in peace John.

Elphaba , I have pictures of the wall as well in Prague. May have to go look for them.
I've never been a huge Beatles fans, but I recently visited Strawberry Fields for the first time on my Thanksgiving trip to New York and I have to say that there was such and amazing energy there.
It's actually inspired me to learn a bit more about the band and listen to more of their music and lately I've had "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" on an endless loop. I must acquire it on vinyl.
I was just listening to "Imagine." That song sounds like it could have been written yesterday.

If he was resting in peace before, he sure isn't now.
