Aw, he (she?) was beautiful. I love pets - they're wonderful companions and so loyal. They don't use you or manipulate you, they only want your love. The only downside to a pet is that they don't live nearly as long as they should.
I'm so sorry about Hunter. Perhaps he's helping Steve Irwin wrestle crocs...

Posted: 9/4/06 at 9:54amThank you everyone for your condolences. I am beside myself with sorrow. He was seriously ill these past few weeks, so that when he passed away last evening, I was sort of relieved that he was finally at rest. And I had to contain myself to deal with taking him for cremation. But today, I cannot hold back the tears. I just had to create the photo, my little memorial to a little creature that has given me great comfort and joy for the past 15 years.

Lauren, I am so sorry for your loss, having lost my feline partner in crime of 17 years a couple of months ago.
Go to http://www.rainbowsbridge.com
and put up a memorial for him at that site. It truly does help people get through it.
I also go every Saturday to PetSmart just to look at the cats they have up for adoption, as it gives me peace playing with them.

I would like to say I'm sorry for you too. The loss of a pet, especially one who has been a part of your life for so long is hard. As with any loss, allow yourself a period of mourning and don't try to push yourself through the process.
On a side note - what a lucky pet to have had you as an owner.

I am sorry for your loss I have a 12 year old bunny rabbit and have lost a few in the past, so I certainly understand and sympothize.

I'm so sorry. It's never easy.
I know this isn't the best approach for everyone, but I always deal with the demise of a beloved pet by immediately taking in another animal in need of love and a home. I look at it as honoring the memory of the old pet. Last time I had a cat put to sleep (liver failure), I brought two four week old motherless kittens back home with me the same day. Still grieved for Dewey, but my emotions were channeled in a positive direction.

Lauren, I am so sorry for your loss.
Both you and Hunter were lucky to have each other for so long.
