Return to Oz

Has anyone else ever seen this movie?

re: Return to Oz

I loved it as a child. I need to see it again. It fit more with the Wicked (the book) description of Oz.

re: Return to Oz

Isn't that the one with Farusa (SP?) Balk as Dorothy? It has some nice moments.
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

re: Return to Oz

Yes it is. I love Fairuza Balk. I liked the movie and think it is closer to the Oz books if I'm not mistaken.

I love her also. She's really a great looking gal. She scared the crap out of me in that terrible movie "The Craft"...she does the whole b*tch thing very well...

I know what you mean. I've always thought she was hot too. Did you see her in VALMONT?

re: Return to Oz

The Scissor Sisters have a song about the movie. It's called "Return to Oz." Go figure. But its great.
There's always room for pathos - and jazz hands.

re: Return to Oz

The Scissor Sisters song isn't about the movie: it's about how crystal meth has ripped through the gay community.

I love the movie (saw it twice last month) -- so dark and thrilling. Love the Scissor Sisters song as well.

re: Return to Oz

the wizard of oz was based on the first book, return to oz uses a bunch of the other oz books in it. i like it, it's on my netflix list.

re: Return to Oz

The book is more truthful to Baum's Oz rather than the MGM and Wicked Oz's. It's storyline is a combination of books 2 and 3.

BEST. MOVIE. EVER.

The score to this movie is orgasmic as well. And it's always fun at the end celebration scene to pick out the many Oz characters in the crowd.

re: Return to Oz

Heh, for awhile I wasn't sure if this was a real movie or one I made up or dreamt about. All I could remember was the end where Dorothy had to pick green things to turn all her friends human.

About 6 years ago I saw it in an old movie store and realized it was real. Bad 80s effects though...

re: Return to Oz

Great movie - the head closet thing FREAKED ME OUT as a kid! I remember when it came out they had a special promotion at Radio City Music Hall - you could see that or Black Cauldron along with a "Disney Spectacular" We saw Return to Oz because my family had made a tradition of watching The Wizard of Oz on tv every year - though I was pretty young - anyone know what year it came out? - so it couldn't have been a very long lasting tradition....

1985 It scared the crap out of me back then. That crazy machine they hooked her up to and Mombi. So scary!

The wheelers were the scariest thing! I didn' like it much when the heads all started screaming... but those wheelers! *runs to check all windows and doors are locked*

I hope her b/f is the one on the right. If he's the one in the middle, she's in for a rude awakening...
