Revalation???

Anyone watch it last night?

I saw commercials for it, and it scared the crap out of me. No thanks!

re: Revalation???

I watched it. Not bad. But I was very disappointed that it was only on for an hour. It's a six-hour mini-series. I thought it was going to be shown in three 2-hour installments. Dragging it out in 1-hour installments over six weeks is stupid. I'm passing. I'm sure that Bravo or one of the other NBC owned cable stations will air all six episodes back-to-back eventually. Maybe then, I'll spend an entire day or evening watching it. Otherwise, I'll wait for the DVD.

re: Revalation???

I saw it and thought it was a bit confusing, but very compelling. But, the whole Florida courts deciding whether the girl in the coma was dead or not - how long ago was this written? It's an interesting story, as a "thriller", but clearly not to be taken seriously biblically like the fundamentalists do with those Left Behind books.

re: Revalation???

What I didn't like about it was the overplaying of all the characters (which I believe has to do with the writing and direction - not so much the actors themselves) for instance - it would be much creepier for the Satan Worshipper to seem sweet and kind and be nice looking, like a boy next door type - than to have this guy who's doing it (and doing it over-the-top, I might add) I hate it when they spell things out for you. Let the viewer decide for him/herself how to feel about a character - don't just introduce someone and say "Here's the devil figure now, coming to scare you"..that's just plain stupid. Let me be scared when I figure out that the sweet guy is really the devil in disquise - that's MUCH more frightening, to me. And why does Bill Pullman work??? He is SO blah on screen and always plays every character exactly the same - boring.

I don't think it was meant to be taken too seriously. After all it is TV. Scared the poo-poo out of me too. Sadly I think I am hooked.....

You know what else is creepy? The show "Medium" on Monday nights. Gives me the willys (willies?) but I'm absolutely addicted. I just plan on getting no sleep on Monday nights.

I don't know of any fundamentalists who take the Left Behind books seriously. They read it knowing that it is fiction based on Bible events.

Haven't checked out Medium yet. I think because it is in the West Wing time slot I am watching it (Such a creature of habit am I)

Gotham-
I'm basing that on my own sister. Obiviously it's fiction, but she uses the stories to "prove" to others that the Rapture is near. Sorry, didn't mean to imply that they tought the actual events were real. My bad - Mea culpa!

re: Revalation???

The Medium is a much better show - tighter direction - more naturalistic playing. The only thing I don't like about it is the Husband - why in hell does this chick stay with that moron who never believes her - doubts her every world and hurls insults at her left and right? I'd divorce his sorry ass in a millisecond.

re: Revalation???

Redhot - I read an interview with the real Alison Dubois who said that the fictiona husband "is so much like my own - sweet and supportive." Has she watched the show? She sais the show portrays her and her family as they were 5 years ago, beginning to deal with the implications of her "gift". So maybe in time he will grow in wisdom (if not personality).

re: Revalation???

Bluemoon - well - whatever the reason - whenever joeyjoe and I watch this show I get really intensely angry at the husband and want her to kick him out. He's just not a kind man...at least not at this stage of their relationship. I have no idea why it upsets me so - I guess because I don't take that kind of treatment from anyone anymore and I want everyone else to stand up for themselves!!LOL..it's all about EMPOWERMENT!

Well, he's a mathematician who sees the world through the concrete - numbers, stats and the like. They really don't speak the same language in terms of their understanding of life. He's VERY sensate and she's an off the chart intuitive. Opposites may attract, but does it work out in the long run?

re: Revalation???

Acctually Blue Moon. I know several Christians who take Left Behind dead serious and believe that it is the best series of books ever written. Has anyone here read them? I tried, because I make it a habit not to comment on what I haven't read/seen etc. And the books are horrible. Badly written and not entertaining but preachy. I couldn't make it halfway through one of them. ANyways tangent. Just know that some people out there take these books dead serious.

I was raised in an apocalyptic sect. It was very good times.

I skipped Revelations, though. I would've watched if Kristin Chenoweth had been in it.
