She says the secret to life is the "law of attraction."
According to Oprah, "People around the world have been talking about a movie so powerful that it can change the course of your life. This movie, The Secret, was created by Australian Rhonda Byrne, and she says that if you follow its philosophy, you can create the life you want—whether that means getting out of debt, finding a more fulfilling job or even falling in love."
Do YOU think THE SECRET is the secret? Or a huge hype?

I have a friend who swears by it. But in truth its just another self-help program that tries to modulate the way you view obstacles. If you find these types of things worthwhile, then you'll most likely get a lot out of this as well.
Personally, I find it a bit obvious.

Posted: 2/23/07 at 10:42amI think the basic philosophies in Byrne's book are true and have been around forever. I do believe that your perception on your life and the energy you give off dictate a lot of the opportunities that present themselves. Being concious of how you think is a very powerful tool.

Posted: 2/23/07 at 4:01pmIt’s simply The Law of Attraction repackaged for a modern-day audience. EVERYTHING is energy, including thought. Like attracts like. Positive attracts positive. Negative attracts negative. Creative visualization. Energy flows where attention goes. Etc. Nothing new. (She doesn't claim it to be.) And I can tell you first hand that it definitely works!

Posted: 2/23/07 at 6:50pmThese fads come around every so often, and I agree the lessons are actually rather quite obvious. But I got a lot out of The Secret. It's those obvious things that we/I seem to forget about. Personally, I got more out of The Artist's Way than the Secret. It just made more sense to me.

I've known about most of this before The Secret. Its lessons are in other places. The Secret just does a great job condensing and portraying the info.
I strongly believe in it (and by "it" I mean a lot more than The Secret).

Ac-cent-tchu-ate The Positive- Harold Arlen& Johnny Mercer
You got to ac-cent-tchu-ate the positive
E-lim-i-nate the negative
And latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with mister inbetween
You got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
And have faith, or pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene

The same message is delivered in different ways. Like luscious said... it's Creative Visualization. Even "Conversations with God" follows the same idea... every thought we have is creative.
I found the movie to be a bit on the cheesy side, but overall I totally believe in the teaching.

Posted: 2/24/07 at 7:28pmI just heard of this book today. I considered picking it up, but wondered if I'd get anything more out of it other than it being another technique for creative visualization.
