Hi, this sounds really silly. But I just saw a Rice Krispies commercial, and there was this song playing in the background. Does anyone know what it is? Is it a variation of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"? It sounded like there was a ukelele playing. The commerical is in black and white I think, and has a mother and son. I forgot what the words said at the end.

hey. it is a version of somewhere over the rainbow by Hawaiian artist IZ (Israel Kamakawiwo'ole). i love it and it always makes me miss Hawaii. feel free to pm if you'd like the full version.

IZ is one of the finest SAMOAN musicians of all time, while technically he was an Hawaiian citizen, his heritage was Samoan.........
he died way too young, and his music is inspiring. Anyone wanted to get to know him, MUST buy his album Facing Future, first.
he was a huge man with a big heart
and ANY of you who make fun of his size......I will hunt you down and smack you silly......
I've always thought his version is so sad. Maybe because every TV show has used it for a beloved character's death scene...
but Rose it's fitting, as his childhood and life was rather sad.....I find the song, and most of his, strangely uplifting
bump
I LOVE IZ, but the song makes me think of Mark Green dying on ER and I get sad...=(

Oh shiksa...Dr. Green! That was heartbreaking. I had a terminally ill parent, and it killed me to watch that episode (and the ones leading up to it). I absolutely lost it! The saddest death of a TV character to me ever was probably Bobby Simone (Jimmy Smits) on NYPD Blue.
