I love the Alien franchise so much (except for part 3). I am extremely excited for this prequel (although there seems to be some recent friction between Scott and Fox regarding the direction).

SPOILER (although it may be a rumor altogether)

Anyhoo, saw this and meant to post it a couple of weeks ago. It's certainly off the wall, I just hope that if this scene is real it's not done in such a way as to make the audience go "oh gross! 2 dudes are being mind-****ed into having sex! There's nothing worse than that!"

____________________________________________________________

If I read these new plot details casually in a link someone sent to me claiming it was "inside info," I might have scoffed at it. But when Fox steps in to remove said details, it might be worth as second look.

The original story ran on What's Playing, and here's a screenshot of it before Fox forced the info be taken down. If true, it contains a decent amount of spoilers from the film, so read on with caution. I guess we'll find out if it's true if Fox tells US to take it down? Here are the highlights from the piece:

The script (by John Spaihts and recently rewritten by Damon Lindelof) tells of the space jockeys traveling from planet to planet and terraforming them. The space jockeys are holding captive of two human slave farmers named Fin and Karik and force them (via mind control) to engage in sexual activity. (The twist: they're both male).

There will be a black Vasquez-esque spaceship crew member named Oliver. Gemma Anterton was offered to play a female crew member named Truks.

The aliens are used by the space jockeys (known as "Growers" in the script) in their terraforming processes as some sort of biological tools. The signature alien won't appear until the latter half of the film when it fully develops into it (this hints that we'll be seeing different and new forms of aliens).

The editor calls the film a hard science fiction part psychological drama.

Ridley has met with Lance Henriksen to appear in the film.

So yes, the terraforming thing sounds like a legitimate plot point, but the way the gay slave sex is framed is something out of a black comedy. The Growers don't understand the concept of human gender apparently, so they try to make the two humans mate and reproduce even though they're both male. The human crew that finds all this going on is described as "sex starved" in the article, so maybe the Growers get their wish in the end.

What do you make of all this? Would this be a good direction for the prequel to take?

I posted the entire text b/c I'm not sure if this is a perma-link

The description, as written, sounds more like enforced same-sex rape than anything approaching gay sex, I'd say.

And the whole plot synopsis comes off like typically clueless heterofanboy bullsh*t, designed to elicit disgusted gasps from audience members. Can't you just see the headlines screaming "BROKEBACK ALIENS"?

I never thought I'd say this, but I agree with Roscoe. The gay sex thing sounds terribly immature with no relevance to anything other than to disgust frat boys.

If it's James Earl Jones and Zack Galiwahteverthefck it's disgusting. If it's Zac Efron and Jake Gyllynhall I think it's a brave choice, worthy of an Oscar nom.

From what I gather from other sites, the terra-formers lack of understanding regarding gender and sex is a major issue in their faulty breeding of the Alien species.

I obviously haven't seen the script, but the asexual concept seems germane to the overall concept of the film and the genesis of the Alien.

I too hope it's not some "ew gross" moment, but I don't think Scott would stoop to that.

I don't get the 'mind control' part - if it was the way it was 'supposed' to be, why would they attempt to control the scenario? Since they do, I don't see how it's not supposed to be for audience laughter, through the ick factor for many.

I don't want to come off like I'm defending it, I mean I have no idea how it will turn out. You could very well be right and it will be completely homophobic in the worst way.

But, if they have these two human slaves who they want to reproduce but who won't (for a reason that they don't understand) then of course they would use what force they had to encourage mating.

All they know about the human species is that it requires two to make one. They have two. They want a third.

But again, I have no idea what context this is all in. It's just random speculaition.

That was the impression I got Taz- Apparently the Aliens are asexual (or hermaphroditic) and this is a way to dramatize that plot point. It certainly drives home their "otherness."
