Well, I told you all awhile back about how I finally got the lead in my school show, Annie Get Your Gun, and this year the Papermill Playhouse came to evaluate the show for the Rising Star Awards. 4 reviewers came over the show's run, and I thought I would share the results since I'm insanely proud:
Well, three of the four reviewers nominated me for 'Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role", which means I can possibly be nominated in the final decision, but it's a bit unlikely since it wasn't 4 stars. Anyways, here's what the three evaluators who nominated me said:
"[Joizey Actor], displayed a good understanding of his role and interacted well with the other members of the cast as the self assured Frank Butler. His voice was clear and strong and blended very well during his duets with Annie."
"[Joizey Actor] performed the role of Frank Butler with wonderful believability. He had a beautiful voice and "sauntered" across that stage telling everyone that he was smug and a star. He was believable in his character and was consistent throughout, even with his wide range of emotions."
"[Joizey Actor], who played the role of self-centered, wild west show star and sharpshooter Frank Butler was remarkable in this role. He was a very fine actor and was never out of character. He related well with the other performers and his duets with Annie Oakley were excellent. The outstanding number was 'Anthing You Can Do', performed with [Annie]. He was very poised and at home on the stage."
I just thought I would brag a little since some other people do it on here. I was surprised with the outcome of the show, and I was happy that my first lead role was a success. I've learned a lot from this show, as I do with ever show I do, and I can't wait to go for the 4 Star Performance next year!

congrats!!!!!!!!!! My high school won in 1996 for EVITA. My brother got to do scenes at papermill and deborah bauml his friend who played evita tied that year with Laura Benati for Best Actress lol. We were nominated last year for Little Shop Of Horrors and Natalie Weiss won best actress for Audrey.
Good luck to you! thats wonderful.
Congratulations! Such wonderful news! It's nice to hear a success story like that!
I was looking through the list of schools from last year and I saw that a girl had been up for Best Actress from a LSOH. Audrey is a great role.
I'm excited to compete again next year. I know this year my pickings are slim with 3/4 stars, especially against kids who are doing Les Mis and Sweeney Todd. My god.
so how does the whole competition work anyway, im really out of the loop on those things, all the way out here in rural maryland
