I'd take it more seriously (I think Rob is one of the worst actors out there) if this came from Spielberg or someone of his calibur.
He's a human being. Man. That's all that matters. He's a human being who is speaking out against hatred. Why does it matter if he's an Oscar winner or a stand-in? He's a Jewish man, and he's opening his mouth and saying something. I'm glad someone is.

You are correct, Craig, about alcohol loosening the lips. I don't advocate hate (unless it's directed at Jerry Falwell and others of his ilk)

Craig, I agree with you. A columnist in a local paper put it this way: "Drinking removes inhibitions. It doesn't miraculously transform someone into a raving anti-Semite unless he is one already."
"I don't think Mel's comments are going to kill anyone."
Perhaps not, JohnBoy2, but words carry weight.

Whatever. You can all be upset that he's an anti-semite or a homophobe, or whatever else you say he is, I'm not. I'm anti drunk driving, and upset that people drink or do drugs, and drive. It's a free country, and people can be bigots, if they like. That's not against the law. Driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, is illegal, and kills and disables people, multiple times, every day. What real weight do Mel Gibson's words carry? I feel everyone is giving him far too much credit; and just playing into his superior attitude.

Posted: 8/7/06 at 9:02pmI applaud Rob Schneider for his sentiment, but also agree with the posters who say it would be more effective if it came from someone who even MIGHT work with Mel Gibson...it's not like Gibson is banging down Schneider's door for a part...

"You can all be upset that he's an anti-semite or a homophone"
Quite frankly, I am not too concerned if Mel Gibson is a homophone

"I don't give a damn about that. It's the "extremely gay" part that's bothering me. I mean, if I'm a murderer, they'll welcome me home with open arms. Get out of jail and become a huge rapper. But a gay pimp? Like, where am I going? Vermont?"
