You know what? Episodically, there is a lot of complaining that the board isn't as interesting as it used to be... And I agree. But when I think back to when it WAS interesting, one of the things that I remember is the prominence of varied personalities... Mr. Roxy was one of them. There was alway a lot of sparring, and some of it got out of control upon occasion, but it didn't generally go over the line.
I'm offended that things got so personal and ugly that Roxy, who I acknowlegde added fuel to the fire, felt it necessary to stop posting. We all like to maintain that the board doesn't matter to us that much, but be honest, it does... This is still a community in which we interact, and an outlet to voice our opinions or even just have fun.
Two things need to happen here. The Mrs. Roxy attack needs to be put to rest....by everyone. It was a dark chapter in BWW history, but time to move on. And Mr. Roxy...I am glad that you are back...but you have to move past that, too. Everyone contributed to that debacle...the people who personally attacked the Roxies (?), Mr. Roxy and his overactive PM tendencies-especially when pissed, the moderators-who allowed that thread to fester, and people like me- who just read and didn't get involved. I still feel bad about that. Not one of my prouder moments.
Anyway. I want the diversity that having people like Roxy posting affords this site. His perspective and opinions may irritate sometimes (whose can't?)...but at least he is real. As opposed to some of the 'created' personas who are here to see how much they can get away with before they are banned.
I've never had a problem with pseudonyms, but pseudo-posters, 'creations' like I believe RodneyK to be, are the problem here, not the Mr. Roxy's of the world.
