What a talent! Her voice is so smooth and great to listen to. She is amazing in White Christmas, which is my favorite Christmas movie. I really do not think she as respected as she should be. I am listening to her duet "Some Enchanted Evening" with Frank Sinatra, just heaven.
Freakin' love her!

Give this CD a try - amazing!
We just watched White Christmas last night and I fell in love with her all over again.

I am crazy about Rosemary Clooney! I was JUST listening to Mambo Italiano (Mob Hits CD) this afternoon.

Couple things about Ro:
1) Look at White Christmas! Bing Crosby was a noted Health fiend, Danny Kaye very athletic and fit, Vera Ellen a little slip of a gal and yet Rosemary who ate what she wanted, loved her cocktails and ended up a very big girl outlived them all. Goes to show ya!
2) Check out her later work on Concord Records. I'd recommend "For the Duration" a collection of songs from WWII or if you want an over view the 2-disc "Girl Singer" set. Terriffic listening!!!
And she was still great in 2000 on her 'Rosemary Clooney - Brazil - with John Pizzarelli' CD.

Personally I think her voice got better and better-- or maybe it was that she had the freedom to record better material with better orchestras as she aged.
Her "Mambo Italiano" is amazing.
I saw her three times before she died at Rainbow and Stars, the wonderful-but-no-more cabaret space at the Rainbow Room. It was an honor to watch her in the "autumn of her years," giving incredible meaning to ballads like "A Foggy Day" and surprising depth to uptempos like "Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans."
I agree with Joe (as usual!)--listen to the Concord recordings. Such phrasing!
She did a CD called For the Duration, which was all WWII songs. It is a great CD. Her I'll Be Seeing You is worth the price alone.
