Roy Rogers

Whatever happened to Roy Rogers?

I know there is still one at The Maryland House/Welcome Center/Rest Place - and I make sure to eat there every time we travel.

But this is the only lasting location I know of. They didn't degrade in food quality. Just didn't get the business. I think its because they didn't do a 'happy meal' type deal. There were no promotions.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Roy Rogers is absolutely vile!

But there's also still atleast one in NYC on 53rd and Broadway.

Aren't those strictly an East Coast thing, like Carvel and Wise potato chips? I remember eating at a Roy Rogers on Long Island while visiting my grandparents, but I have never seen any out here.

re: Roy Rogers

I just visited their website. The food looks AWFUL on the Site. Burger looks black, cheese looks plasticy, chicken looks like there is no meat.

I'll have to visit again my next trip to New York (at Maryland). Haven't been in three years.

But I can live without it. Chick-Fil-A is my place for chicken. Wendy's for burgers.

Oh - I've got to disagree. I hate fast-food burgers as a rule but I LOVE Double-R Bar Burgers. Big ol' hamburger with shaved lean ham and melted cheese. Mmmm mmm good! (Add a little barbecue sauce and horseradish sauce and it's heaven on a bun!)

All the Roy Rogers restaurants near me closed a few years ago. They can still be found out in the country, near Leesburg.

"Whatever happened to Roy Rogers?"

...and my thoughts go to the beloved cowboy who passed on to that big ranch in the sky several years.

Capn, we have the same tastes!! I wish there was a Chick-Fil-A in NYC.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

no Chick-Fil-A in NYC?? que horrible!! And I was ready to pack my bags and move...

But anyway, I have fond memories of RR when I was a kid...last time I visited the big city, I was so exicted to see there was a restaurant right across fro mthe Letterman theatre! It was one of the best burgers EVER, I was in heaven re: Roy Rogers
