Big surprise, Rumsfeld today attacked the media's coveage of Iraq as biased, too focused on "deaths." Only a zealot warmonger would fail to see the irony in his own observation. We're still supposed to put aside the mounting death tolls and get misty-eyed over electric grids and school openings (even as they do NOT open in our own New Orleans.) We weren't sold this war to rebuild a nation. We were told our soldier deaths were necessary to eliminate an "imminent threat." The bait and switch is so built in now, they are shameless.
And another level of irony: blaming our media for bias, even as they pay to plant propaganda, and possibly contemplate blowing up Al Jazeera. Oh, that pesky press. When you can't control 'em or destroy em, they are the root of all evil.
I think this dance should be the Rumsfeld shuck and jive.
. . . avoid the real issue and blame the messenger, and a three and a four.
