This was a huge hit for Ms Bacall. Saw all her replacements.. Raquel Welch, Debbie Reynolds, and Barbara Eden on the road.
Woman Of The Year
"It's my night, Sammy, all mine, Sammy -- so you can't give it your well known whammy!"
Saw 'em all, too. I actually thought Reynolds was the most accomplished.
Unfortunately I only saw the Eden tired tour. Although Marcia Lewis was great in the Cooper role.
Well Reynolds was the best dancer of all.. ( well.. the only dancer of all) but Bacall brought huge star power. I also always loved the way the orchestra sounded in that show. So rich and full.

Remember Tessie Cat?
This show has always been a guilty pleasure for me. A fabulous overture! Also posted is "Grass is Always Greener". What a showstopper!
The on "Grass is always greener" post I have seen is with Raquel Welch. Is there one with Bacall? And yes.. one of my favorite overtures ever. Also the first time I had ever been to the Palace theater.
And I loved Marilyn Cooper in this musical. Is she still the only one to win a Tony for one scene? Here is a display of her talent on the tv show Alice.
Marilyn Cooper
This number makes me cry those happy tears that come when you witness something magical on stage. Musical Comedy heaven.
Bacall and Cooper
Oh my god. Thank you!
And now...
...the craptastic Rice/Hamlisch musical numbers from THE FAN
Didn't this movie open at that theater that was next to the palace at the same time Woman was playing?
dear god, I HAVE to see that movie.
It is a great 420 movie. Wait till you see who plays her assistant.
I am a huge fan of The Fan. Those numbers are priceless kitsch. I saw in a single screen theatre when it first came out.
I have a lot of affection for " Woman Of The Year". What a great Kander and Ebb score of its time.
