Ooh, can you add "SHOUT" to that list?

P.S. Zzzanahk...having a show within a show has been done numerous times on Broadway.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

I've always loved "The Bachelorette" video by Bjork.

i love the songs from sing, and while i understand that part of an broadway show is the suspending disbelief how do you separate the stage as a stage and as a setting

For a fantastic musical version of stage within a stage see a version of Follies, it is the "dream sequence style" and fabulous.
A play with a "realistic" set, Noises Off springs to mind.

These are just the first two I thought of, a director of ANY talent at all can pull it off.

I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

what about for a local theater, what i guess i meant was a musical, not a broadway show, the two seem to be the same in my mind. but i would love to try to write this, i am just confused with how to start.

would you incorperate the audience. like the usher in drs who is an usher to the audience but also a part of the show?

Well, there are many...like

Gypsy
Funny Girl
The Actor's nightmare
The Phantom of the Opera
Wicked
Pippin
The Mystery of Edwin Drood (now titled Drood)

All use plays within plays in their shows.

Ever heard of these shows, Zanna?

Justice, it seems like all you do on these boards in insult the way other people think. So if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t bother posting where I post. I don’t want to copy another show; I want to understand how to artistically draw a boundary for the audience.

In fact it seems like that’s all the most of the people on these boards do. People are supposed to have different opinions or the forum wouldn’t exist, it would just be a mass of people agreeing with what anyone said. Yeah, that sounds like tons of fun. If people didn’t have different ideas there would be no more art to create

"Justice, it seems like all you do on these boards in insult the way other people think."

Listen, "stand-by", you haven't been on these boards long enough to know what and when i post. I am a LEGEND (thank you) and I have the right to post what I want when I want.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled thread...

I don't mean to sound rude, but you started this thread, asked peoples opinions, they aren't what you were probably looking for, and now I'm sorry, you have to just get over it. People are allowed to express their views on these message boards and if they were bad, the mods would delete them, so they are not, so you shouldn't over react. I have no idea what SING even is, but I just came to this thread just to put in my two cents.

And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.
