GIANT SPOILERS for those who are yet to see this gigantic pile of summer trash.
Am I the only one who thought this? Jamie Foxx, the only black pilot in the movie, gets killed off halfway through by his own bravado. Then it's left to the Josh Lucas, the blond haired blue eyed Aryan poster boy to save the day. I was just disgusted.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Posted: 8/14/05 at 12:50amI saw the preview for the movie and thought they tried too hard to make the cast PC. It's the most elite group of fighter pilots in the country, and there's a white guy, a black guy, and a woman. I just doubt that such a high-up special force would be that evenly diverse. It was Jessica Biel that pushed me over the edge, overall the Navy is not 1/3 female and considering how great this group supposedly is, a woman in there seems unlikely. Not to mention she would never make it in the Navy with those huge boobs and zero body fat.

I'm personally of the belief that if there aren't any female fighter pilots its at least partly due to sexism- I know it's a bit of an issue in Israel, so I don't see why it would be any different here. That said, you're right- reality is reality and an elite female pilot would be unlikely. Still, I'd rather err on the side of PC casting than to continue with the homogenous "white guy is the hero" trend that we've had, oh...forever, sometimes even when the source material calls for something else.
