Wow, we just caught Sarah Polley's haunting film/doc yesterday, and can't stop thinking about it. Please, anyone reading this, SEE THE FILM FIRST. Then come back here and help me process what I saw. I feel like one of the first audience members to see SLEEP NO MORE who needs to come here to work out all the riddles of the piece.

I saw it today and LOVED it. Stories We Tell unseated Mud as the best movie of 2013. I couldn't get over how incredible it was, especially all the "found footage."

The old footage was so meticulously recreated and every interview was so perfect. Very highly recommended.

Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco. Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!

Whizzer, glad to have a fellow fan of the film. So my question is: how much of the found footage do you think Polley created? Weren't the movies of the family as kids genuine? Were the interviews real or partially scripted? When those few seconds of footage scrolled by that gave away the movie's real secret, my heart started to race and my head started to spin, trying to rewind all that we had seen to sort out what was real and what was staged.

I hope the conversation Polley has started keeps going, but I pray no critic or blogger out there spoils the trick up the movie's sleeve until audiences have a chance to find it for themselves.

I would have to watch the movie again knowing that the found footage was fake (I was COMPLETELY fooled the entire time btw), but I would guess 85-90% of the footage was filmed by Polley. I mean nearly every shot with the mother was by an actress- and even that scene with the kids teasing Sarah at Sunday dinner was staged.

Rebecca Jenkins, who played the mother, gave one of helluva performance. Honestly I found it to be nomination worthy. Simply brilliant work- and she never got to speak!

I think the interviews were unscripted.

I can't stop thinking about this movie. I want to take Polley out for drinks and ask her a million questions. I bet she'd be a lot of fun too.
