Which of these schools have the best musical theatre programs? I have to submit my application to my school by the end of the week. I know Queens College has a good program, but other then that any reccomendations to what I should look into?

I attend Brooklyn College for the MFA program in Acting. They have a stellar (though not Musical Theatre) BFA Acting program as well! The hidden gem of NYC! Good Luck!

SUNY Purchase has an excellent program. It's in Westchester County.

University at Buffalo (UB, not Buff State) has a stellar musical theatre program. Buffalo also has a thriving professional theatre community that gives wonderful opportunities to students. I just graduated from there a year ago, and I love what I learned there and the professors are amazing.

I'm a Queens College alumna, and I learned a ton, worked with some fabulous people, and had a wonderful five years (I double majored). I also had some of the most unique theatre experiences that I'll be hard pressed to top! Among others, I worked on a new children's musical, a Chinese opera, and a new play that transfered to Queens Theatre in the Park. And I learned backstage skills as well, which have come in handy.

Let me clarify two things, though. First, there is no musical theatre program there, although you can major in voice, and the music school is excellent. Second, there is no BFA in Acting, only a BA in Drama, Theatre, and Dance, so if you're looking for a conservatory type atmosphere, QC might be wrong for you. On the other side of the coin, though, you could easily take away as much from QC as you would from anywhere else, it just depends on how involved you get and how open you are.

Good luck!

Yeah, UB does have a great program. The school is huge too.

I heard SUNY Purchase's program isn't half bad - plus it's close to the city.

I don't know much about SUNY Fredonia but I'm sure it's just okay.
