Same Sex Marriage Pioneer Dies

Del Martin has passed away.

It's sad to think that she had to wait 55 years to marry her partner, but I'm so glad that she was able to do so before she died.



“Ever since I met Del 55 years ago, I could never imagine a day would come when she wouldn’t be by my side. I am so lucky to have known her, loved her, and been her partner in all things,” Lyon said. “I also never imagined there would be a day that we would actually be able to get married. I am devastated, but I take some solace in knowing we were able to enjoy the ultimate rite of love and commitment before she passed.” - Phyllis Lyon

The thing that goads me is odious lesbian self-promoting narcissist Robin Tyler had to jump in front of the cameras in California to be claim the title of first California lesbian to get married there when that title and the tiaras so belonged to Phyllis and Del.

I agree, Namo. That was disgusting.

But what Del has meant and will mean to everyone who believes in equal rights will never be eclipsed by such blatantly political grandstanding.

What Del did, she did for love. There is no motivation so pure or so powerful.
