Man, this movie..I just don't know. Michelle Williams' performance is so raw and intimate that she makes the contrivances in the script work..while you're watching it, at least. (The thing with the cold water and the shower..I mean, really? She's not going to look up at cold water coming from a different direction after 5 years?) Don't get me wrong, though, there are some wonderful scenes in the film, but I feel like Williams is the key to the success of those moments. That's probably why Polley cast her.
The amusement park scene
