Many of my close friends were devastated at the closure of St. Vincent's a few years ago. Now I know what they went through.
My hometown (Williamstown, MA) is losing its one medical facility within a 20 mile radius on Friday. The North Adams Regional Hospital is set to close its doors, due to bad management, causing thousands to go without a close center for medical attention and hundreds to lose their jobs. The employees were notified yesterday (Tuesday) that it would close Friday. When my grandmother had her strokes years ago and anytime a family member was ill, this is where we would send them. My cousin and aunt are also employed here. They are at a loss of what to do, and North Adams has a 22% poverty rate. This hospital was the main source of jobs for the town.
If you have the time today, please sign the petition below. It's one of many being circulated online, and it would mean a lot to me and my family.
