Natalie Portman. Smarter, prettier, classier, better actress.

Natalie Portman. I've never understood the appeal of Scarlett Johansson...she just strikes me as passive aggressive. Portman is not my idea of a great actress, but I am anxious to see what she will do with CLOSER...I have a feeling there might be untapped resources there.

I think Portman showed potential as a real powerhouse in her small part in COLD MOUNTAIN, a part I was hoping she would get an Oscar nod for.

Natalie. Something about Scarlett bugs me. And Natalie was in Star Wars and I am a closet Star Wars nut.

DEFINITELY natalie portman... i dont see the appeal of scarlett either... natalie's pretty hot and she does have great potential... here's hoping she takes great roles in the future that will show what she started to show in cold mountain...

BUT, I forgot to add that I pick Scarlett.

Natalie was great in Diary of Anne Frank but I really love her rendition of Defying Gravity.

Natalie Portman, as a young girl, was f*cking fantastic in "Leon." Updated On: 9/4/04 at 10:44 PM

Is it really fair to compare the two, though? Natalie Portman is more "established" than Scarlett Johansson, and has been showing greater and greater potential since she burst onto the scene. Whereas Scarlett has only just begun...

Having said that, I'd prefer Natalie, though I found Scarlett's role in "Lost in Translation" to have been nuanced and beautifully subtle (and was shocked that she wasn't Oscar nominated)...

Somehow Scarlett comes off as an American version of eurotrash, if that makes any sense. Sort of a Paris Hilton-type without anything to justify it. And I thought Lost In Translation was way overrated. (The first 45 minutes were good, but then...*zzzz*)

When did the Horse Whisperer come out?
Scarlett began LONG ago.

I'm with Natalie, by the way.

I love Scarlett, especially in GHOST WORLD (love that movie). Natalie Portman is good but can also get annoying with her acting. I don't know. I do want to see GARDEN STATE though.

She's fantastic in in Garden State. A true standout in an already great movie.

Garden State is on my must see list too. I think that Zach Braff may be the next big thing. We'll see.

Oh, BTW - Natalie all the way. Although I want to see her do some new stuff.

Natalie was absolutely enchanting in GARDEN STATE. I could just look at her smile for hours.

ouch!
I always find Natalie portman a boring actress.
I prefer much more Scarlett. Natalie Portman never is going to do something like "lost in translation", and as amidala... is HORRIBLE!

Everyone in the new Star Wars films is horrible. I tend to blame George Lucas.
