Search for a high school show

Hi all,

When it comes to putting on a school musical, the search for the show makes you want to pull your hair out, so I was wondering if anyone here would be able to suggest some shows that a high school company could present.



The requirements are:

• - Relatively large cast (<18, including chorus)
• - Mostly female cast (<6 males, though we could possibly stretch this)
• - Minimal dance requirements for female roles
• - Strong female lead (preferably soprano)
• - Large orchestra acceptable, if not preferred
• - Generally "nice" and "clean," as the school is religious and the script is to be reviewed by the principal (we had to turn away Spamalot if that gives you an idea, though we just finished Into the Woods?)

Legally Blonde might work, though I'm not sure where that falls on the schools appropriateness spectrum.

Oklahoma might work, as could Drowsy Chaperone, Carousel, Guys and Dolls, or Bye Bye Birdie. I'd also vouch for Legally Blonde, Shrek, and Disney (Beauty and the Beast? Little Mermaid?)
