Posted: 4/3/04 at 9:13pmAh yes, I can understand how Daylight Savings Time might present challenges to those who are chronically recumbent.

Posted: 4/4/04 at 8:02amIf you guys only just went forward, does that mean that for a week NY was six hours behind us?

Posted: 4/4/04 at 2:03pmBeing from Indiana, I don't have to worry about Daylight Savings time. I can see its merits, but I am perfectly happy having it be dark really early in the winter. It doesn't bother me. I have enough trouble with staying on time without having to worry about setting a clock backwards or forwards.

Posted: 4/4/04 at 4:12pmAre you saying that Indiana doesn't switch to Daylight Savings Time?
re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: Set thos clocks ahead!#14
Posted: 4/4/04 at 10:00pmMost of Indiana doesn't change, there are few parts that do, like the north western tip of Indiana because they are basically a suburb of Chicago anyway. We don't do daylight savings in Indiana though it has been tried to be passed by the legislature. It's a little confusing because we have relatives in Minnesota, and relatives in Ohio. Sometimes we are with Central time, sometimes with eastern. I believe the official term for Indiana time is Eastern Standard Time. Arizona used to not switch and I'm not sure if they do Daylight savings now. Hawaii doesn't switch either.

Son, I think you're thinking of time zones, which were instituted by the quickly-growing railroad companies. Daylight Savings was adopted as an energy-saver for the US during World War I and again in World War II (after which it became an annual practice).
For some reason I have the strangest feeling of deja-vu.
