This same Jeffrey Wells person wrote this while he was waiting to board a plane in France:
"Before every flight, I cross myself and ask God Almighty not to seat me next to a morbidly obese person. There are at least two whales in line right now, and I'm feeling a very slight apprehension about this. There are thousands of people in Paris who look well-fed or stocky or fat, but I've seen no Jabbas."
Which followed his positive musings on a clip reel of Tom Cruise flicks - the best of which he thought was Tom's reaction to the hooker in RISKY BUSINESS.
You'll pardon me if I don't give two SH*Ts or a holler about what this idiot has to say, think, do or feel.

The fact that more people are concerned about this movie than what is happening in the world is scary. Some individuals think the 4 characters actually exist.
To show how far the mania has gone, there were 2 girls whose mother paid for them to come to NY to see it. They also spent 4/5 nights at a swank hotel . $ 19,000 later they never saw the movie as it was overbooked opening night. Their explanation for the excess " We wanted to do the girls (meaning the fictional characters) proud". This is absolutely insane. These same people will scream about the high cost of gas but will spend $ 19 K to see a stupid movie which will be on DVD 6 months from now.
We really have our priorities out of whack.

"The fact that more people are concerned about this movie than what is happening in the world is scary."
Do you have any data to back up that ridiculous statement?

"The soul of this movie is infected with gross materialism, the flaunting of me-me egos and the endless nurturing of the characters' greed and/or sense of entitlement. It's all about money to piss away and flashy things to wear and lush places where the the girls lunch and exchange dreary confessional chit-chat. "
This makes me think he didn't even see the film. Seriously.
Terrible review. And not because I don't agree.
I don't care if people don't like this film. I find the vitriol for it laughable (though I do understand anyone put off by overexposure).
And the misogynist comments in the comments section? Disgusting. The kinds of comments that make me have to fight becoming misanthropic more and more everyday.

"This, mind you, is where millions of middle-class women in every semi-developed country around the globe live in their dreams."
Um, not me, thanks. Nor any female I know. My dreams (and those of my friends and family) are lived in our homes, our neighborhoods, with our kids and pets and husbands and boyfriends (and girlfriends) and evenings on the lawn with cheap wine and the occasional low-budget road trip. Ours are hardly "about money to piss away and flashy things to wear and lush places where the the girls lunch and exchange dreary confessional chit-chat."
Has this writer ever even met an actual human female?

Posted: 5/31/08 at 11:17amI don't know if he's ever met an actual woman or even saw the movie at all, but I doubt he'd spend so much time ranting about a movie that featured 4 guys in the leading roles.

#1 - I watched the series when it was on HBO
#2 - I am married so I think I met an actual woman
#3 - I could care less who is in the leading role of a movie

Have a nice day one & all. By the way, Mrs R thanks me for going to see so called "chick flicks" with her. She tries movies I suggest & than comes back & tells me I was right
PS Mrs R wants to see Indy today over Sex. Maybe we will see that for next week. How's that for irony?

I'd fully expect someone to question me, if I said: "The fact that more people are concerned about this movie than what is happening in the world is scary." Without offering a wit of proof to back that statement up.
You can avoid answering the question if you like, Roxy. But avoiding it doesn't make your post any less STUPID.
