My unit is discussing the possibility of trying to bring in a Shakespeare troupe or really any theater people to hold a workshop with the kids during an "arts" day we're trying to plan. Anyone know of any groups in the NJ area that do this? Anyone have any connections or ideas?
Thanks!
The Shakespeare Festival at DeSales University in Allentown has a school program that tours schools. They just started the tour and might still have dates.

I know there is some kind of group that always mails me packets about having their company of actors come to the school and put on a Shakespeare performance, but of course my school could never afford something like that so I usually just toss it. I'll try and hold onto it next time it comes in the mail.
Thanks - we're thinking of doing a grant for it because the school itself would never fund something like Shakespeare
Shakespeare Theatre of NJ does just this. It has a group called Shakespeare LIVE that brings a show to whereever you are in NJ (most places I think) and performs it for you. And I believe they have a talk back. But check their website:

this year, they're doing Midsummer, Scottish Play and a play about Poe.
I've worked with this theatre twice and their shows are awesome. totally worth it.

Yeah that's the name of the group that sends the pamphlets. They sound terrific. Every time they mail me something I get so excited..........until I see the prices!
