Good Morning, All.

Long-time reader/occasional poster here.

If I could have a brief moment of your time, I'd like to briefly shill for an important cause.

Last year, a good friend of mine lost his father after an arduous 15-month battle against pancreatic cancer. Though diagnosed at an early stage and treated with surgery and multiple rounds of chemotherapy, the disease caused many complications and proved to be physically insurmountable.

Pancreatic cancer is a devastating disease with awful survival statistics (only 6.7% make it past the 5-year mark).

In memory of their lost loved one, the family is participating in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life this June and their team, "Joe's Jetfires," has set out to raise $1,000 for the cause.

If anyone here is able to make a donation (however big or small) it would be so greatly appreciated. Please visit the secure link below.

Thank you for reading.

I lost one of the best friends I will ever have to pancreatic cancer. A gentle soul, with a devilish sense of humor, who knew how to made bad situations good and food situations better. He lasted several years beyond his initial diagnosis of "6 months to a year." But the pancreatic cancer put him through hell. I owe much of the best of who I am, professionally and personally, to his counsel and love, both of which I miss terribly. Thanks for posting this. I donated in your friend's memory--and in Jed's.

Thanks, PalJoey!

Even now I can't fully articulate the hardship I saw this man and his family go through. However, despite his illness, I saw the man approach each day with positivity and try to live his life to the fullest.

Why this always seems to happen to the best individuals, I'll never know.

But, thank you for your generosity!

I'm in. It's good to love someone so much (and hate cancer) you're willing to ask for donations. I hope Joe's friends and family enjoy being together and remembering him as they participate in Relay for Life.
