1. "Q" is not just a letter.
2. You can only read from a light that is blue.
3. You consider the red part of the stoplight the "standby."
4. You can't remember what daylight looks like.
5. You can rhyme any sentence anyone utters with a lyric
from Sondheim's "Into the Woods".
6. You call practices for sporting events "rehearsals."
7. You watch the Super Bowl, waiting for "intermission", not
half-time.
8. 95% of your wardrobe is black.
9. You tell more stories of what went wrong on shows you've done than
what went smoothly.
10. You start wondering what it feels like to be a prop.
11. You know anything can be fixed with gaff tape, Mortite,
sculpt-er-coat, a sharpie, tie-line, a safety pin or enough staples.
12. You're the only person you know who has never seen "Cats".
13.our Halloween costume in some way utilizes running blacks and gaff
tape.
14. Your Halloween costume brings to mind lines from Shakespeare.
15. You understand the jokes in Forbidden Broadway.
16. You insist on spelling "theatre" with an "re" not an "er".
17. Even while sitting in the audience, you call the left side of the
stage "right"
and the right side of the stage "left".
18. Going to a restaurant means ordering and sitting down in a fast
food restaurant
rather than going through the drive-thru.
19. You'd heard of Mandy Patinkin before he was on Chicago Hope.
20.Practical" and "flat" are nouns.
21. Instead of saying that you're leaving, you say you're "exiting."
22. At home, you "strike" your dishes to the kitchen.
23. You "spike" your furniture before vacuuming.
24. If someone asks you what time it is, you respond with something
like,"Half hour 'til half hour."
25. You call text books "scripts" and scripts "the book."
26. YOU HEAR AT LEAST ONE THING EACH DAY THAT MAKES YOU SPOUT OUT A
LINE FROM YOUR CURRENT SHOW.

Great list re: Signs You've Been in the Theatre Too Much

I especially like '11. You know anything can be fixed with gaff tape, Mortite, sculpt-er-coat, a sharpie, tie-line, a safety pin or enough staples.', being a guy that switches back and forth between performing and teching...

Here in this cold white room tied up to these machines, it's hard to imagine life as it used to be. Laughing, screaming, tumbling queen... Like the most amazing light show you've ever seen. Whirling, swirling, never blue... How could you go and die? What a selfish thing to do... RIP Jason

6) Sorta like that:
This past summer I worked at a ballpark and I had to wear a special uniform. One afternoon when I was getting ready, I shouted to my mother, "Mom, where is my costume??" and she was like, "I thought you were going to work?" And I said, "Yeah..I need my costume..."

Finally she called me a nerd and said that in America, we call them uniforms..I like costume better.

Haha! Costume is so much more...sophisticated.

Uniform sounds like a punishment.

27) Its the summer and all your friends are tan and peeling from spending days on end at the beach. You, however, are as white as white could be--b/c you have rehearsals everyday.

LittleFish- I worked in a restaurant over the summer as well as the local theatre so my schedual went something like this:

8 AM until Noon-Serve Breakfest at restaurant
12:15PM until 4:30PM-Rehearsal
4:45PM until 3:00AM-Bus tables and host karaoke at restaurant

I had one day off the entire summer and I spent it in NYC seeing Assassins and Wicked (I couldn't have spent it better)

You end up writing more for this message board rather than that important essay you had two months to do.

My brothers always give me strange looks when I ask how their auditions went.

Turns out that when you want to play golf or basketball on a team, you have to "try-out", and not "audition". Go figure.

And last night, I went to my brother's varsity basketball game.
He did something impressive (although I couldn't figure out exactly what was so exciting...) and a bunch of people stood up and started cheering.
I was very excited that he received a standing ovation.
Apparently, that term is not used at sporting events either.

At times watching the game, I really felt it was like an interpretive dance based on auditioning.
But that's just me.

I starred in a short film called Magnetic Personality. Check it out!

I was actually just thinking about making about making an open ended list about this today.

My additions:
- Your first kiss was on stage.
This would be me this past semester, yeah akward but cool all at the same time is this good or bad?!
(for that matter...anything dirty done for the first time on stage or in the theater, oh man I've heard some stories!)

- You go to parties where the high point of the night is making up harmonies to soundtracks.
This would be me last night...hehe impressive that people did this even while drunk off their "bum bums"

- You get embarrassed when people walk into your room when you were totally belting/dancing your heart out... ALL the time

I'll think of more later.....

I have to add one...

You go insane when people refer to musicals as "plays"

It always happens to me. Even my teachers do that and I want to kill them!
