Its actually not that surprising. His health problems were well documented and the trial at the Hague had been in recess multiple times due to his condition.
Its a shame, though, that justice will not be served. His actions had a profound and horrible impact on the lives of many Bosnian Muslims, Kosovars, and Croatians, that I don't think we here in the West fully appreciate.
