I love this show - and its constant allusions to the Superman mythology - but just how slow a build can these people take? I mean, last night's ep (the Lex-mas one) served the same purpose as EVERY OTHER EPISODE -- Lex is going bad, his dad his an a-hole....we GET IT - just turn him evil permanently already, and let's get on with it! We don't NEED more moments of "I can go either way, but something forced me to go bad" - we've had like a dozen of them already! And don't even get me started on that stupid Santa thing....
Get back to the mythology of turning Clark into Superman - and just pit the two against each other already - I've been patient for four and a half years now - it's time.
I've been watching from the beginning, as well, and have no issue with it. I loved last night's episode, as I do all the episodes.
I wanna nail Michael Rosenbaum....does that make me bad?
Yes, it does.
***********SPOILERS (kinda)************
I was reading an article on this season of Smallville and one of the producers said that they're killing off a "big" character in the season finale.
God, I really hope it's Chloe, but it probably won't be.
Actually, I think the kill-off is sooner than that. I'm guessing Jonathan Kent.
The kill off is for the 100th episode - they've been hinting at it since the season premiere - or whichever ep. it was where Clark died and Jor-El brought him back.
I figure it's got to be either Chloe or Jonathan -- they came close already with Martha so it won't be her -- they CAN'T kill Lois, Lana, or Lex because that would screw up the mythology - the only other main character left is Lionel, but he's not close to Clark so that isn't it.
Last night certainly seemed to hint at it being Jonathan...

Wow, I haven't watched that show since it was a monster-of-the-week deal back in the first season. I feel old.
"I wanna nail Michael Rosenbaum..."
Who doesn't?
yeah i want to too!
I've never really paid attention to this show, but my sister has had this massive crush on Jensen Ackles (the guy who played Jason) for about 6 years, so I would randomly catch episodes here and there. It moved too slowly for my tastes.

How could you guys hate Michael Rosenbaum? He is such an awesome actor, in my opinion, the best in the show. Most of you probably watch it for Tom Welling but face it Michael is a way better actor even though he may not be as hot. I know it also wasn't my favorite episode, but I think the whole Santa thing should of brought a smile on everyone's face. And yes, a major character is supposed to die in the 100th episode, but I do not think it will be Chloe. Chloe is my favorite character and I really think she will play a major role in Clark's decision to be a reporter so maybe they won't kill her off yet. My guess is it will be Jonathan Kent, but sadly, we'll just have to wait and see.
Check out kryptonsite.com for spoilers on upcoming episodes.
I don't know how this turned into a "want to do Lex" "want to do Clark" thread since really the hottest person on the show is Lois. Anyway -- Chloe's death might be exactly what drives Clark to become a reporter -- plus Lois has the bug now also, so Chloe's death could drive them together. I definitely think it's either Chloe or Jonathan - though the show seems like it's pointing to Jonathan with this past weeks ep. - making me believe that it's going to be anyone BUT him.
Trekkie, did someone say they hated Michael Rosenbaum???

Sorry guys I was read this thread and then I was reading another one about Smallville on imdb and I totally combined my thoughts into one post on here.
Sorry for all the confusion!
Jonathan dies prior to Clark going to Metropolis, in the original SUPERMAN story.

Heh. I was just going to say, these are comics we're talking about. You'll have at least 3 versions of every major origin story, if only because writers can't be bothered to get them straight. And then there's the retcons. :P
