to love your job!!!
Some of you know that I quit corporate life about a month ago to pursue a performing career. I was fortunate enough to quickly land a recording job and today was the first day. I honestly did not know that it was possible to love every minute of your job. Apparently, it is. And because I was doing what i loved, I did a great job and was commended by the people I was working for.
The moral of the story is, follow your bliss! Don't wait until middle age, like I did - although the good part about waiting is that I appreciate it much more than if it was all I had ever done. Learn from your Auntie Rath, kids...

How wonderful! Best thing I've read on the board all day! Congratulations - you deserve success AND happiness (and it's nice when they happen at the same time).

You may have waited, Rath, but at least you DID IT! Some people never do.
Good for you, and I hope the path stays sunny and warm
I'm so glad you have a fabulous time Auntie. You completely deserve it! And I am also going to take your advice. You are the first adult to tell me to pursue my dream. I love you.
And I am not afraid to tell you...

What an inspiration! That's fabulous. Very brave of you to be able to take that step in the first place. Congrats and best of luck!
I'm so happy for you Wifey...now can I quit my job?
Congrats! Have fun! I wish I could quit school and get a fun job and love every minute of it instead of staring at the clock for hours...lol, j/k (kind of) but enjoy!
Isn't it great! A few years ago I changed careers, and now, every time I get my paycheck I giggle inside and think to myself "they pay me to do this?!"
Thanks, guys, but I want to make it clear that I didn't start this thread to receive congratulations (although they're lovely!). I want to make a point, and I hope I have.
And Boobs - give me a minute...
The other wonderful thing about a performing career is that you keep getting new, fun, exciting jobs all the time! So you never stop learning and expanding your horizons and meeting new people. Of course there are down periods, too, but overall you're in for the time of your life!
From your mouth, wildcat... Look, this may be the only performing job I ever get - I know that - it's the most competitive business in the world. But at least I was able to experience this joy one time! And that's worth everything.

Rath, my wife is early 40's and got her Equity card at 39. When she hears Kate Monster sing, "You have to go after the things you want while you're still in your prime." She says, that's bull.... Prime is where you are today.

I'm with your wife, brdlwyr. It's all about doing what you enjoy. And not taking "no" for an answer. And not being afraid to take a chance.
I am so happy for you Rath!
We've never spoken, but reading that just made my day. Congrats!
