Someone please tell me ... (DWTS)
Someone please tell me ... (DWTS)#1
Posted: 4/8/08 at 12:10am... how a dancer can make a mistake, which all the judges acknowledge, and still get a perfect 10!

Because it's a reality TV competition, not a real competition.
You can't get too heavily invested in these things. I don't think the right person has won since Kelly Monaco and even then they tried to take it away from her.

Oh, shameless, you had to go there ... Kelly Monaco?!? THE Kelly Monaco who should have been booted the first week?!?

Oh pulease!!!! They were so overly harsh with her that first week and there is NO WAY that she was worse than the chick from The Bachelor.

Posted: 4/8/08 at 11:55amI was wondering the same exact thing, how can they give him a perfect 10 when his routine obviously wasn't perfect? I thought it was pretty unfair considering Kristi's performance.

My post from a thread about last season:
As a refresher for those of you who have forgotten [This means you Shameless.] Kelly placed six out of six with the judges the first week, scoring a mere 13 (THIRTEEN!) points, five points behind Evander Holyfield and Trista Sutter. She was fifth of six in week two, fourth of five in week three, finally reaching the top spot with the judges in week four. While I appreciate her improvement and her commitment, I maintain that she should have been the first to receive the heave-ho. I, however, do give her props for her grace in handling the wardrobe malfunction!

Posted: 4/8/08 at 12:19pmI don't know why y'all are so shocked. This is a "reality" show, not a real dance show. The best dancer does not win, it is more of a popularity contest. The judges scoring has always been questionable. The week Sabrina and Mark got the boot last year, was partially due to not a big enough fan base, but also the judges were much more critical of her than the other contestants. The judges said they expect more from her, which wasn't fair. All the contestants should be judged based on the same criteria. Did Jason deserve a 29-no, and Shannon Elizabeth's score should have been higher. However it doesn't matter what we think, the judges and I am sure the producers will shift things in a direction that makes for "better tv" in their minds. Just take it with a grain of salt and just enjoy the entertainment value of the show and don't pay attention to the scores.

DBillyP, I wasn't talking about the judges scores. We know the judging is offbase. Isn't that the point of this thread? I'm saying she was a BETTER dancer than Trista. You wanna take this outside?

Oh, shameless, I will take it INSIDE where we can watch the tape of season one, episode one! I won't argue with you that Trista was bad ... really bad ... but that first week Ms. Monaco was AWFUL! The only people ever to score lower were Master P and Tucker Carlson! Now, THAT's bad!
sesot, I get all of that as well, but don't the judges think that the scoring should carry a modicum of believability?!? Kristi didn't deserve 10s either, but at least she didn't make a mistake like Jason did. I mean, what are we teaching our children?!? Perfect no longer means without flaw or defect. "Oh, miss a couple of questions on your test; you'll still get a 100!"
re: Someone please tell me ... (DWTS)#10
Posted: 4/8/08 at 1:08pmI agree that the scores should be a better reflection of the actual performance. I have realized this will never be a reality.
