You have been given the task to creat Sondheim's new greatest hits cd. Which 15 songs would you choose to put on this cd?

What? No "No One Is Alone" or "Being Alive"?

It must include Send in the Clowns and The Miller's Son

In show order, including the two big hits for which he just wrote lyrics, limited to one song per show:

OFFICER KRUPKE
SOME PEOPLE
WHAT MORE DO I NEED
COMEDY TONIGHT
ANYONE CAN WHISTLE
BEING ALIVE
TOO MANY MORNINGS
SEND IN THE CLOWNS
SOMEONE IN A TREE
A LITTLE PRIEST
NOT A DAYS GOES BY
FINISHING THE HAT
NO ONE IS ALONE
LOVING YOU
INSTRUCTIONS TO THE AUDIENCE

And nothing from Bounce!

Keep trying but failing to narrow it down, I wind up with about 4 lists of 15 MUSTS!
I may go for the one from each show style, but I can't even narrow it down that way!

I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

it's pretty impossible. I didn't have a great strategy - only went with things that I liked, or things that I don't always hear...

I'm probably going to miss a bunch, but here goes:

1. Ladies Who Lunch
2. Being Alive
3. Losing My Mind
4. Send in the Clowns
5. Someone in a Tree
6. A Little Priest
7. Not While I'm Around
8. Not a Day Goes By
9. Putting It Together
10. Children Will Listen
11. No One Is Alone
12. Invocation and Instructions to the Audience
13. Anyone Can Whistle
14. I'm Still Here
15. Broadway Baby

Not my favorite songs, necessarily, but those are the ones I think would be placed on a "Greatest Hits" CD. There's a difference. Updated On: 5/20/05 at 05:06 PM
