I vaguely recall the song you're thinking of, but I can't remember a thing about it. The only songs that actually pop into my head are:
2NU - This is Ponderous
Club Des Belugas - Hip Hip Chin Chin
But I don't think either of those are what you're looking for.

I was thinking Lisa Lisa's remix of Let the Beat Hit 'Em, but that's not "dance lessons," it's "how to set up a stereo." One of my faves from that era.

I never saw a music video that I can think of, but there may have been one. The man said something to the effect of "step back, move to the left, take 2 steps forward..." etc in the sample.
None of those mentioned so far is it. Thanks all for the responses.

Posted: 4/23/13 at 4:48pmNo, not that. I want to say it was more obscure and not as much of a "hit" as that. It was played on Top 40 stations, but I think it may have been by more of a one-hit wonder type of artist. But, I guess, that defines many songs from the early 90's.

I knew it was "How to Dance" but couldn't recall the artist- took me a while to think of Bingoboys.

Oh, my god, I love you, that's awesome. As soon as I started playing it, I knew that was it. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I love the power of the Internet.
Thanks again, all, and especially JoeKv!

Posted: 4/23/13 at 5:03pmI'm just glad someone could recall the early 90s. 1989-1995 is all sort of a blur for me.

Encyclopedic knowledge is never a bad thing. If there was a video, I hope this was it.
Step left, around, and together with the right
