This has been bugging me forever. Can anyone help me identify a song that was popular right around the time of the Divinyls' song, "I Touch Myself"? It was a dance/pop type of song that had a sample of a man giving a dancing lesson/dance steps.

Can I ask how you knew he was giving dancing lessons? Was it a part of the music video or did the lyrics reveal that? Or was it more like "Puttin' on the Ritz" where you heard tap dancing as part of the song?
I vaguely recall the song you're thinking of, but I can't remember a thing about it. The only songs that actually pop into my head are:
2NU - This is Ponderous
Club Des Belugas - Hip Hip Chin Chin
But I don't think either of those are what you're looking for.
I was thinking Lisa Lisa's remix of Let the Beat Hit 'Em, but that's not "dance lessons," it's "how to set up a stereo." One of my faves from that era.

I never saw a music video that I can think of, but there may have been one. The man said something to the effect of "step back, move to the left, take 2 steps forward..." etc in the sample.
None of those mentioned so far is it. Thanks all for the responses.
Putting on the Ritz by Taco?
No, not that. I want to say it was more obscure and not as much of a "hit" as that. It was played on Top 40 stations, but I think it may have been by more of a one-hit wonder type of artist. But, I guess, that defines many songs from the early 90's.

I knew it was "How to Dance" but couldn't recall the artist- took me a while to think of Bingoboys.
enjoy
I kept thinking it was called "Dance Lesson", but I knew that couldn't be right.
Oh, my god, I love you, that's awesome. As soon as I started playing it, I knew that was it. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I love the power of the Internet.
Thanks again, all, and especially JoeKv!

I am just glad that encyclopedic knowledge is occasionally good for something.

Oh my God, did I just transport back in time!
Thanks.
I'm just glad someone could recall the early 90s. 1989-1995 is all sort of a blur for me.
Encyclopedic knowledge is never a bad thing. If there was a video, I hope this was it.
Step left, around, and together with the right
I remember that song, but couldn't for the life of me think of the name!
