Hi, I’m a student at college and for an exam, I have to do 3 solo pieces and a duet which are all contrasting in style and era, but have the theme of ‘secrets’. I have a monologue From Julius Caeser but I am struggling to find some other songs and monologues... any help would be much appreciated!! I am a mezzo soprano.
"The Man in the Moon" from Mame actually starts with the phrase, "I have a little secret I'd like to impart..."
This song will cover contemporary plus comic, silly and ridiculous. You can go to town with this.
Then there is the Oscar winning song "Secret Love" from Calamity Jane. It is a standard issue love song usually sung straight, but give it some subtext somehow. Carry a large framed photo of The Trump or something.
