There's a hotel in Vegas featuring "A Doodling Song" in its TV ads (Lyrics: doo doo doo doo, do de doo). Dr. Pepper featured "Menomena" in it's ads a couple years ago. (Lyric: Menomena. Menomena. doo doo de doo. Menomena)
It made me think of songs that have lyrics without words. Not just a few nonsense syllables, no actual words at all. Anyone?
Ummm, have you looked into Nicki Minaj's "songs"?
Joe, are you referring to the Muppets song "Mahna, Mahna"?
Kander & Ebb's "Boom Ditty Boom" comes to mind though I realize it's not exactly what you're looking for.

It was indeed used on the Muppet show (among other places) and there seems to be no end to the possible spellings.

"Lyrics" of any of you-know-whose oft-quoted here (but only by him) "songs" could fit in this category by default I think.
the rather deliciously obscene chorus of Thurio's Samba from Two Gentlemen of Verona
Anything by the Cocteau Twins.
Any Michael Jackson song. "Sh-more"
Check out the soundtrack to BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID. Except for "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on my Head", all the songs are "skatted" by the Swingle Singers. (I'm putting "skatted" in quotes because I think the word implies improvisation, while the Singers songs are obviously prepared.)
What's Kander and Ebb's Boom Ditty Boom from? I know there No Boom Boom from Zorba but that's all that's coming to mind.
I love the Butch Cassidy soundtrack--Bacharach liked to use (mainly female) vocalists doing that in his movie scores (and in his pretty awful easy listening albums of his hits released under his name.)
Is the original poster refering to songs where the lyrics are actual words that don't really make any sense, or made up words?
Similar to Cocteau Twins, as much as I enjoy a lot of early Duran Duran, and LeBon liked to claim they were all deep literary references, but they don't usually add up to much....
"The reflex is an only child he's waiting in the park
The reflex is in charge of finding treasure in the dark
And watching over lucky clover isn't that bizarre
Every little thing the reflex does
Leaves you answered with a question mark"
Yeah...

PalJoey, those were great! (Dick van Dyke clip is the only one I had seen before.) Thank you. You do tend to post the best YouTube links!
Good Morning Starshine is my favorite. The cast members always look so darn determined and passionate about whatever "gliddy glop gloopy," is.

Blossom Dearie has always been a favorite of mine. A few years ago she was a guest voice on Curious George- she didn't sing though.

The Muppet version was a cover. The original single of Menah Menah came out in 1968.

"Boom Ditty Boom" is from 70 GIRLS 70. It refers to the sound of one's heart beating. In the show, it's sung by a group of senior citizens as they are preparing to commit a robbery.
