Started mine on Monday and as of today have lost 5-6 pounds! I'm thrilled and plan on trying to stay with the plan.

Anyone else start their diet? Results?

been on it for about 4 weeks-down at least 2 inches in the waist. Don't have a scale to compare that. =) I think the diet is great so far. Yet, I don't think of it as a diet, but as a life choice much like becoming a vegetarian. Except that a veg. is prob never going to touch meat again, while I know I will eat certain foods again on special days.

I'm like you, jrb, I hope to be able to make this a life style. I'm amazed at how easy it is--for the most part. I messed up yesterday and ate some cuban bread but I was good in other ways so it didn't really cost me.

My hardest meal is breakfast. How about you? A friend--you know who you are re: re: South Beach Diet--suggested boiled eggs and cheese. I did that this week and I think I can do it again next week but after that I'm not sure what to try!

Of course at that point, I can have wheat bread so maybe an egg over easy with wheat toast.

I'm also going to get a George Foreman Grill when I'm out and about today. That should be a big help!

Do you have any tips for staying on target? I'll take all the help I can get.

I've been on SBD for a little over a month now. My friend is also doing it. The George Foreman is indispensible to him (I don't eat meat, so I don't reap its benefits.) One tip that helped me is to freeze veggie quiches for breakfast. It definitely saves me time in the morning, and is a nice treat. I've "messed up" a few times, but as long as you try most of the time, it works well. Another thing I found helpful is if I know I'm going to be "naughty," I go back to phase one for a day or two. Finally, there are so many low carb options right now, so keep an eye out for them. Usually they say "Atkins Approved." Happy Eating!

WOW! I'm impressed. Congrats! to all who are doing well with South Beach. Small warning, watch your fat intake. Don't sub carbs. for unhealthy fats. And excersize, a little or a lot, whatever suits you.

DofB5~ look for "low carb" labeled foods. There's tons of them from bread, to pizza, to ice cream to beer. There a little rare and pricy, but when you gotta have em! My hubby is diabetic and I'm strict with him. He does very well. And me? I hide my Hersey kisses in my drawers....the ones in the furniture that is!

Keep up the good work gang! You will look and feel great by summer!

Thanks for the good wishes, PB ENT2. I know I'm sure gonna give it a honest try!

Just as a FYI, I bought the Heart Smart grill this afternoon instead of the George Forman. It was as big as the $100.00 GFG but was less than half the price--I think it was $43.00.

Breakfast - for me, eggs, cheese, canadian or turkey bacon, mushrooms, white pepper or garlic and herbs--or whatever combination. Now, I can have oatmeal with cinnamon, nutmeg, Splenda, and whatever as long as it is South Beach friendly.

I eat a lot of "Taco Salads": ground beef or chicken (seasoned) with shredded Motz, Black beans, romaine lettuce and a few grape or cherry tomatoes. YUM!

Or steak or chicken breast and broccoli.

Just look at the foods allowed and make up your own dishes!

I eat a lot or string cheese, sugar free jello, sugar free candy, pistachios for snacks.

For dessert: the ricotta dishes are great--ESPECIALLY when blended into a pudding/mousse consistancy--the lime tastes just like key lime pie! Now, I add fruits or semisweet choc chips.

Sugar free fudge bars like Klondike Slim-A-Bears are excellent, too. Also, Food Emporium (and others) have sugar free cookies--as long as the ingredients are SB friendly aka oatmeal or wheat (not enriched wheat) only and sugar sub. Sometimes, I will allow a "sugar free" item that uses fructose--even though I think that is technically a no no.

I drink Diet Coke now in moderation as well as decaf or caf coffee with skim milk and Nutrasweet. Sometimes, I just get a skim milk mocha, no whip at Starbucks--which has sugar, but I do this in moderation.

It's been so easy. It just takes that bit of discipline to say no white breads or sugars.

Exercise is going to be very helpful--you can only go so far with out it, but it makes the work involved feel so much more worthwhile when you know you are eating well to support it. And, even not working out really, I have gotten down to a 34" waist in just a month (from 36"+)

Let's keep sharing advice/woes! =)

Well the only hint I have to share so far is that I put a cap or two of Real Lemon Juice in my bottled water with my evening meal to give it some kind of taste. I've been trying to drink as much water as possible and it get's a little tiring.

I used to drink a glass of sweet ice tea. I can have decaf tea and Splenda but I find the Splenda doesn't taste right in cold drinks. It's GREAT in hot tea. I'm so glad I can still have my Jasmine tea!

It's not hard for me to give up the soda's or the booze--I never really drank them to start with.

I had the chicken and broccoli for dinner this week and your right--Yum!

I've also eaten the 20 peanuts I'm allowed. My co-workers see me counting them out and call me a "bean counter". LOL!

The Taco Salad idea sound great!

Brought this back up to ask how everyone is doing. Still going strong?

I'm doing great! I just pasted one third of my goal. In just 3 weeks!

Still doing well--it's just a part of my life. Lost even more weight. Got some booty out of it--not bad for a reward, eh??

LOL!

Eeek...spent a romantic weekend in the city for Valentine's Day. Ate way too much! We did make it a point to walk as much as possible. Back to the dieting (strictly) this week, though. Hey, it's okay to splurge once in a while!

Yes, you do have the right to break the diet every once in awhile. South Beach Diet

I never said I would never eat a chip again. I just won't eat as many in one sitting as before.
