I haven't watched one in years but all-time favorite had to be MariMar starring Thalia! By the way Thalia gave birth last week to a healthy baby girl: Sabrina Sakae Mottola!

I used to watch Thalía in a telenovela called "Quinceañera" back in the day. I believe she also sang the title song, or at least Timbiriche did.

*sings for old time's sake*
Y ahora despierta la mujer que en mi dormia
Y poco a poco se muere la niña
Que empieza la aventura de la vida
Y ahora me enciende como un sol la primavera
Mis sueños se convierten en promesas
Me cambia el corazon de quinceañera

Yes! I remember Quinceanera as well. She was part of Timbiriche at the time so yes, she also sang it's theme song! :)

But my all-time favorite was "Rosa Salvaje."

Ah yes! "Rosa Salvaje" starring Veronica Castro. Story elements from that soap were used in "MariMar".

Yeah, I read that it provided the template for other Spanish soap operas that came after. So, in that regard, it was a milestone.

I loved "MariMar" when it came out, I was probably 8 or perhaps even younger. Thalia is a disastrous actress though, her three major "Maria" telenovelas were so entertaining but so bad, I forgot the name of the third one, I only remember "MariMar" and "Maria, la del Barrio."

Yes it was Maria Mercedes.

Maria Mercedes va servirle a usted
De mi familia me encargo yo
Mi madre nos abandono
Porque mi padre jamas cumplio

Maria Mercedes va servirle a usted
Un buen dia mi son cambio
Compro un cachito y me conocio
Y al morir un monton me heredo....

and she's no Sarah Bernhardt but she's far from disastrous.

How could I forget about "Maria Mercedes"? Wasn't that one before "MariMar"? Can't really remember.
She later did another one too where she played a flower girl. I don't remember the name of that one either.
I think she is a horrible actress, incredibly appealing and gorgeous, but not an actress. For good leading actresses in Mexican novelas I go for Kate del Castillo, Chantal (who was in MariMar actually), Angelica Vale, and others I can't remember now, but not Thalia.

Maria Mercedes came before MariMar, then MariMar, then Maria La Del Barrio and finally Rosalinda (where she played a flower girl). Thalia is NOT a horrible actress ray, now piss off!

I knew it had the name "Rosa" in it, I thought it was "Rosa Salvaje" but now I remember.
I always found it hilarious how each one of those telenovelas had the exact same plot but were set in different parts of Mexico and she always had a different job.
Does she still do acting and singing? Or has she given up her career as a performer?

Thalia is still singing. She just had one of her most successful albums in her career with her album "El Sexto Sentido" ("The Sixth Sense"). She has her own radio show via ABC Radio Network: "Conexion Thalia" ("Thalia Connection"), she has her own brand of candies and chocolates manufactured through Hershey's. She has her own line of clothing and eyewear. She's been happily married to record industry mogul Tommy Mottola for the past 7 years and last week gave birth to their first child. A beautiful baby girl who weighed in at 8 pounds, 5 ounces.
