YES, Tiff, that is the precise phrase attributed to Chekov (although I'm not sure he spoke so largely and in such a bold color!) when someone critized him about how dreary his plays were.

In Russian it is not spelled with a "K" but a letter that resembles the English "x," pronounced as the Hebrew "ch" and written as "KH."
