Posted: 3/14/12 at 11:46pmI'm actually moving across the country next week to work at Cedars Sinai in their Cardiovascular ICU. I've heard a lot of great things about this hospital over the years. I interviewed over the phone last month and I was pretty surprised by some of the things they didn't have or do. The hospital I work at now (in Indiana) is about as profit focused as possible so I'm excited to see how much different Cedars will be in compared to where I’m from.

Posted: 4/11/12 at 7:07pmSo far it’s great. It is a huge change but it a good way. Going from a for-profit hospital to a non-profit community/teaching hospital is a bit of a culture shock. The residents and fellows do a lot of the tasks that were done by nurses back where I came from. Overall I'm stoked to be at a facility that focuses on patient outcomes and healthcare advancements as opposed to stripping down necessary operating costs to further pad the pockets of the big dogs on top. To top it off, I freagin love living in LA.

Scripps Clinic and Green Hospital in La Jolla, CA. I worked there for many years. Behind is the Torrey Pines Golf Course, home of the Andy Williams Classic. At the base of the cliff behind that is San Diego's famed nude Blacks Beach. I used to watch the whales migrate from my office window.
