"NEW YORK — Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton has won the endorsement of film producer and director Steven Spielberg, ending a tug-of-war between Clinton and Barack Obama for the Hollywood heavyweight's affections.
"I've taken the time to familiarize myself with the impressive field of Democratic candidates and am convinced that Hillary Clinton is the most qualified candidate to lead us from her first day in the White House," Spielberg said Wednesday in a statement released by the Clinton campaign."

"NEW YORK (AP) _ A former Republican senator from Rudy Giuliani's home state says he is unhappy with the GOP presidential field and is backing Fred Thompson, who hasn't officially entered the race.
Sen. Alfonse D'Amato announced he is supporting his former Senate colleague, an actor-politician who has formed a presidential exploratory committee and is expected to launch a campaign this summer."
Clinton Gets Endorsement From Spielberg
It's Gore vs. Thompson, I tells ya, Gore vs. Thompson!
What do the 'publicans, who loathe the Hollywood elite ("shut up and sing" and all that crap), fall in love with actors and not get called on it? Ronnie was a big ol ham, and now we have this Law and Order nightmare.
Spielberg backing Hill really (zzzzz) excites me. Maybe she'll pose with ET or Bruce the shark. She's about as life-like.
Hasn't Streisand withheld her support? I think Hill's Iraq vote sticks in Babs' craw, as it should ... as should her "we're safer today" pandering "centrist" maneuvers in the last debate.
I still say, she's a dream candidate for one group only: the RNC. Watching Torrie Clark and other Republican strategists tout her makes me want to scream at the TV -- see, she's THEIR candidate, because she's so effing beatable, with a 51% negative. Wake up, wake up, she's closer to Dukakis. And I don't meant Olympia.
I would be shocked if it was the other way around
