re: Stage door at Spamalot#1
Posted: 3/18/05 at 11:54amIt's kinda insane.... the crowds are nothing like when Backstreet Billy (Kevin Richardson) was in Chicago there, but they're crazy nonetheless. If you're seeing the show, bolt from your seat at curtain call...... if you're not, I suggest getting there about 10 minutes or so before the show gets out so you can be near the front. The show runs about 2:15/2:20, so that should give you a good idea.

Posted: 3/18/05 at 12:34pmThanks! Have seen the show. Would have waited after the show, but had plans already to meet for drinks. Will be seeing it again. I had a feeling it was going to be a wee bit zooey.

Yeah, it's definitely crazy. The size of the crowd in general as well as a lot of the people waiting IN the crowd.
I was there a few weeks back waiting for a friend of mine from the theatre and I saw two women in the crowd get into this huge fight. It was ridiculous.

Posted: 3/18/05 at 1:13pmStage door antics make me laugh. What was the problem. One cut in front of the other?

Posted: 3/18/05 at 1:35pmIt's absolute chaos. I was lucky enough to get a spot right up against the barrier, but I almost suffocated because of pushy people squishing me up against the railing. The actors seem to try to get to everyone, though, which is really generous. I got autographs from and pictures with Tim, Hank, David, Sara, and Christopher. Try to rush out of the theatre to get there quickly, though.

Posted: 3/18/05 at 4:18pmMaybe I'll just do it on a night when I have no evening show!

That might be your best bet, mom. Get there around 10:10pm-ish and you should be good to go.
As for the fight, I'm not quite sure what caused it. Like I said, I was waiting for a friend from the theatre, so I was actually standing quite a bit away from the crowd talking on my cell phone. All I know is these two women started screaming at each other about something... and then there were these other two women (who were mother and daughter, Im guessing) who kept jumping up and down, making a scene... all the while, the mother is going on an on about how she either wanted or got Eric Idle to sign her hat.
I was amused to say the least.

Posted: 3/18/05 at 5:07pmThanks!! I really do think I'll wait for a night w/ no plans.

Posted: 3/18/05 at 11:46pmAwww...Tim Curry didn't come out the night I went, and Christopher just bolted. I'll probably end up getting a window card sometime down the line and try again. It was actually pretty mellow the night I was there. There were a lot of people, but the crowd was pretty subdued and polite. Hank Azaria was a riot though! Twas a fun night!

Posted: 3/18/05 at 11:52pmI figured it was going to be crazy. I was there for a Matinee last month and it was packed then. Not my cup of tea!

Posted: 3/19/05 at 12:41amI went on a Saturday night, maybe that made it extra crazy? I don't know. It was just a raucous crowd in general. When Tim Curry came out he joked about how enthused we were during the show.
