Booking a hotel in Athens for one night and if anyone has suggestions as to where to stay, happy to read them. It seems that tripadvisor.com lists most hotels but comments run the gamut for each hotel making it hard to discern one from another. Many hotels, it seems, are decent enough, but there are concerns over dodgy areas. Coming from NYC, is this still valid?
Again - any and all suggestions are welcome.. thx
the ledra marriott is very nice. the divani apollon is expensive but great. yes, there are still dodgy areas.
craig, why not pm our resident Greek, greekmusicalfan, Panos
He lives in Athens
Thanks - I have emailed him as well. Just wanted as many opinions as possible :)
yes, there are dodgy area of athens and some hotels that rent by the hour. I can't be specific, but pay as much as you can afford and as reputable as you can get. Athens has it's own rewards though. It's a wonderful city, but at this time of year so frickin hot!!!!

Please, take me with you, Craig. Don't worry about trying to smuggle me back home in your suitcase, I'll just stay in Athens.
we're going in May....a few days in Athens, and then island hopping......cannot wait!
Thanks to GreekMusicalFan, I found a hotel in a better part of town and not that much more expensive. Looking forward to meeting him as well.
