Just popped in STELLA DALLAS.
Anyone else watching that at the moment?

nope, BUT LOVE IT! Hated the Bette Midler remake......

Me too!

Barb was just looking like Meryl.

Barabara was wonderful in this film, and I love Alan Hale as the Ed, the crummy friend you can never get rid of. I haven't seen this movie in awhile, and should pop it in to re-appreciate it.

How about that shot during the ending? The rain on the window reflecting on Barbara's face as she peers in? Perfect.

I was also not a fan of the Bette Midler version; I love Bette as a rule, and went in wanting to like the film so much.

Bette is usually so spot on I think it's jarring when she's in a film that is not quite right. I love her too and had not yet seen Barbara's version when I saw Bettes. I did not like the Bette version. It was a miss.

On the other hand, the Barbara version is a hit.
