Bewitched creates the dark-haired mischievous Serena, to let our leading lady "stretch" a bit... so an ailing I Dream of Jeannie adds her dark-haired evil twin sister Jeannie.

You gotta love the old "evil twin" gimmick!

Little House on the Prairie - the girls grow up and the writers don't know what to do because the actress playing Carrie is catatonic, so they add an Ingalls baby, an orphan boy and a Nellie replacement. That ought to fix the problem.

Little House also gets the award for character with the most changed personality. When Nellie meets her husband she changes overnight from beyotch to submissive, kind wife.
